The Map and the Compass: decide what stays human when you use AI.

Map how your team uses AI, then decide what people should continue to understand, practise and decide. HR/L&D leaders and managers leave with two outputs they can use the next day.

Over 1,000 people trained in AI since 2024

The journey

Draw the map. Then set the direction.

The first part, based on the Fresque des IA Pédagogiques created by Traindy, brings actual AI use into view. With the map in front of them, the team decides what to delegate and what to keep in human hands. Three steps: understand, decide and apply.

Four directions for deciding where AI supports people and where human judgement must remain active.

Part one · Understand

Collaborative workshop on AI use.

Based on the Fresque des IA Pédagogiques, created by Traindy: a collective card-based activity exploring AI in work and learning. It starts with the team's experience rather than a lecture on tools.

Opportunities, risks and doubts

The cards bring out real uses, possibilities, concerns and open questions without filtering them by hierarchy.

Shared language

Regular AI users and newcomers create a common map and vocabulary.

Critical thinking

The group examines autonomy, evaluation, data and content quality alongside potential gains.

Actionable next steps

Real work situations lead to experiments, rules and actions for the next part of the workshop.

By the end of this part, the team can see where AI saves time, where risks lie and what they want to keep control of.

Part two · Decide

The compass: decide what remains human.

With the map drawn, the team moves to choices: what AI accelerates, what people continue to practise and who remains accountable for the outcome.

  1. Capabilities to preserve

What the team should continue to understand and be able to do without AI.

  2. Observable behaviours

Concrete signs of responsible use in everyday work.

  3. Rules for delegation

What to give AI, when to take back control and who answers for the result.

  4. Higher-value time

Where to reinvest time saved: relationships, judgement, creativity and decisions.

Part three · Apply. The team tests the compass on a real activity, with principles, behaviours, checks and commitments they can use the following day.

Who is it for?

Bring HR and operational perspectives together.

The group brings together HR/L&D leaders and managers. The number of participants will be specified in the final workshop brief.

You already have an AI policy

Apply general principles to a specific work activity.

Tools are already in place

Clarify use, checks and final responsibility.

Adoption is just beginning

Create shared language before practices multiply.

Needs vary across teams

Connect HR priorities to managers' daily work.

Teaching experience

An approach informed by earlier AI training.

Ishika's feedback concerns a Human Compass exercise in an earlier seminar. The other two comments concern AI training Giorgio has delivered. None is an evaluation of The Map and the Compass.

Frequently asked questions

Before we talk.

How do the four hours work?

First, a collaborative workshop based on the Fresque des IA Pédagogiques created by Traindy maps current AI use. Then the team builds a compass for human decisions and applies it to a real activity.

Do participants need prior AI experience?

No. The workshop begins with actual use and work decisions; participants do not need the same level of technical experience.

We already have an AI policy. Is this useful?

Yes. A policy sets the framework. The workshop applies it to specific tasks, capabilities and checks.

What will the team leave with?

Two outputs: a map of the team's actual AI use and a documented compass applied to a real activity, with principles, observable behaviours, checks and commitments.

Can the workshop be delivered remotely?

The confirmed format is in person. A remote version will only be offered once it has been designed and tested.
